Birdland awoke uptown in 1986 at 2745 Broadway, on the corner 105th Street where it was well renowned for its great acoustics and unique setup. In ten years, more than 2,000 emerging artists performed at the club. On many occasions, artists who performed at the original club on 52nd street graced the stage of the second version of Birdland as well.

Over the past two decades, Birdland has expanded it’s musical outreach with the Broadway at Birdland concert series, shining a spotlight on Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, Michael Feinstein, Betty Buckley, Christine Ebersole, Barbara Cook, Ariana DeBose, Glenn Close, Melissa Manchester, and thousands more. Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, our weekly impromptu variety show, has helped make Birdland the late-night place to rub shoulders with show folk every Monday since 2004. And the 2018 addition of the state-of-the-art Birdland Theater has made it possible to include Broadway superstars, burlesque, comedy, cabaret divas, jazz legends and the most buzzed-about up-and-comers.
